A gently winding wooded lane carries you to this privately situated classic, yet casual, oceanfront compound. Surrounded by forests to the back, an expansive shorefront wraps around the other three sides, gracing this beautiful home with unsurpassed views of Spruce Harbor. A unique granite ledge provides the perfect setting for an “ocean water pool”, where a retaining wall captures the incoming tide for the sun to warm the cool ocean waters. This treasured “pool” offers young and old alike a haven to frolic while parents and friends lie close by on the massive flat granite outcrop or bordering soft, grassy yard. An adjacent beach provides another venue for enjoying Maine’s ocean waters, or a great launching site for your own canoe or kayak. Nearer the house and off the kitchen a flagstone patio with table and seating presents a bit higher vantage to gaze upon nearby islands and passing seafaring vessels.
Enter the home and you are warmly greeted by its comfortable style and casual charm. A large galley kitchen, with ample cabinets and counter space, opens to a bright and cheerful combined great room/dining room. Ample windows and glass doors capture the surrounding beauty, carrying the stunning views inside so you are never far from gorgeous ocean views. Beat the evening chill by a glowing fire, where everyone gathers for family time or friendship, or perhaps to cozy up to the crackling fire with your latest novel.
Everyone will rest comfortably in any of the four-plus bedrooms, three with twin beds and one with a single for maximum versatility to accommodate a variety of guest arrangements. A master bedroom and full bath are downstairs, with 3 remaining bedrooms and two full baths up. A main floor card/game room can provide additional sleeping for one guest when needed, while otherwise supplying additional table and seating or the perfect place to work on a puzzle or project!
 Should you choose to venture away from this scenic paradise, downtown Stonington and Deer Isle are but an easy 10 minute drive away.
The property owners are a large family who also own 3 other nearby cottages (The Playhouse, The Boat House & The Carriage House) that, likewise, are available for rent. Guests of these other properties may also wish to utilize the “ocean water pool” or beach area, providing a wonderful opportunity to share in the peace and serenity of this incredible oceanfront property, while still maintaining your privacy back at Kate’s House.
